John Nerland – California Oaks State Bank (cosb)

John Nerland, President and CEO of California Oaks State Bank, grew up in Fairbanks, Alaska, in a family-owned retail home furnishings business. Mr. Nerland began his banking career with Westamerica Bank in 1986, progressing through management ranks to ultimately become the Regional Vice President and Market Manager for California's San Rafael area. In 1999 Mr. Nerland joined Civic Bank and came to manage the East County region. He later moved to startup Solano Bank as President and CEO, taking the startup to $165 million in assets in just four years. Following Solano Bank's 2005 merger into Vintage Bank, Mr. Nerland remained President of the Solano Bank division. In 2006 he became Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Credit Officer of Vintage Bank, later leaving in 2007 to join California Oaks State Bank following Northbay Bancorp's $156 million sale to Umpqua Bank.
