John Manser – Robert Fleming Holdings Ltd

JOHN MANSER is the Chairman of Robert Fleming Holdings Limited. After attending Marlborough College, John Manser was articled to Brown Fleming & Murray (now Ernst & Young) in 1959, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in November 1964. He was made a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in January 1976. He joined Flemings as an analyst in the Research Department in January 1967 and became Manager of the Research Department. In February 1972, he was appointed to the Board of Robert Fleming and Director of its Research and Investment Department. Between 1975 and 1979, he was Managing Director of Jardine Fleming in Hong Kong. On returning to London he became Investment Director and then Managing Director of the Save & Prosper Group, the wholly owned subsidiary of Robert Fleming Holdings, and in 1990 was appointed Group Chief Executive of Robert Fleming Holdings and Chairman of the Bank. On the 1st of April 1997, he was appointed Chairman of Robert Flemings Holdings Limited. He was a director of the Securities and Investments Board between 1986 and 1993 and was appointed CBE in 1992. He was Chairman of the London Investment Banking Association and on the President's committee of the British Banking Association between 1994 and 1998. He is Chairman of Delancey Estates Plc and a director of Capital Shopping Centres, Shaftesbury Plc, and on the Board of The Cancer Research Campaign.
