Jerry Kaplan – Onsale (onsl)

JERRY KAPLAN, 45, is widely known in the computer industry as an entrepreneur and technical innovator. Kaplan is co-founder and CEO of ONSALE, a unique Internet retailing service that adds excitement to the on-line shopping experience through fast-action auctions. Previously, he was chairman and co-founder of GO Corporation, which developed PenPoint, a pen-based operating system. Prior to that, he served as principal technologist at Lotus Development Corporation, where he co-authored Lotus Agenda, the first personal information management software. In 1981, Kaplan co-founded Teknowledge, now a public artificial intelligence company. Kaplan wrote a best-selling book about his experiences at GO Corporation entitled 'Startup A Silicon Valley Adventure', published in May 1995 by Houghton-Mifflin. Kaplan received a BA in history and philosophy of science from the University of Chicago and a Ph.D. in computer and information science from the University of Pennsylvania. Profile
