James Haines – El Paso Electric Company (ee)

JAMES HAINES is President, Chief Executive Officer and a Board member of El Paso Electric Company. His career has spanned over 21 years, beginning as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Missouri (1975-1976); Deputy General Counsel, and Counsel with the Missouri Public Service Commission (1976-1980); Attorney Chief Counsel, Multistate Tax Commission, 1983; Attorney, Vice President-Regulatory Affairs and Group Vice President, Kansas Gas and Electric Company (1983-1992). Prior to joining El Paso Electric, he was Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer (1992-1995) and Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (1995-1996) at Western Resources, Inc. He is actively involved in community affairs as a board member of numerous organizations including: Hospice of El Paso, El Paso Symphony, Chase Bank-El Paso, World Trade Center, El Paso Chamber of Commerce, Salvation Army, Boys and Girls Clubs of El Paso. He is on the Advisory Board of United Blood Services, and is Chairman of El Paso Juvenile Diabetes Foundation's Walk to Cure Diabetes, 1999. Mr. Haines is also a member of Roundtable Leadership Group and of Rotary. He is a 1966 graduate of Jackson Community College with an AA degree in Liberal Arts and a graduate of the University of Missouri with a B.A. degree in English, 1969 and a JD Law degree, 1975.
