Hugh Panero – Xm Satellite Radio Inc (xmsr)

HUGH PANERO was named President and CEO of XM Satellite Radio Inc. in June 1998. He is also a member of the XM Radio Board of Directors. Mr. Panero is a veteran of building and managing major entertainment distribution services. From 1993 until joining XM Radio, he served as President and CEO of Request Television, a pay-per-view network owned by TCI's Liberty Media and Twentieth Century Fox. Previously, Mr. Panero spent 10 years at Time Warner Cable of New York City, where he helped build and grow the world's largest cable system. In addition to his broad responsibilities as Vice President of Marketing, he launched a citywide, pay-per-view service, several ethnically focused channels and was also instrumental in developing Time Warner's Quantum System, the cable industry's first 150-channel 'System of the Future,' offering more than 40 pay-per-view channels. Mr. Panero is an Honorary Chair of Cable Positive, the cable industry's non-profit AIDS awareness organization. He serves on Mayor Anthony Williams' Business Roundtable and was recently awarded the DC Chamber of Commerce's Business Leader of the Year Award.
