HUBERT KOSTER, Ph.D., is the founder of Sequenom, its President and
Chief Executive Officer and a member of Sequenom's Scientific Advisory
Board. Dr. K'ster studied chemistry at Hamburg University and did
doctoral research at the Max Planck Institute for Experimental Medicine
in G'ttingen as well as post-doctoral research work at the Max Planck
Institute for Virus Research in T'bingen. He was appointed professor of
organic chemistry and biochemistry in 1978 with tenure at Hamburg
University. Dr. K'ster currently holds more than 20 patents and has
authored more than 110 publications prior to founding Sequenom in 1994.
Dr. K'ster founded the first biotech company in Germany in 1981
(Biosyntech GmbH, now Prodigo Biochem GmbH, in Hamburg) and served on
its Board of Directors and Scientific Advisory Board. In 1987, he co-
founded MilliGen/Biosearch, the biotech division of Millipore
Corporation in Bedford, MA, and as Vice President Science and
Technology, was responsible for the company's research and development
