H. DAVID AYCOCK is Chairman, President and Chief Executive Office of
Nucor Corporation. Mr. Aycock joined Nucor Corporation when Nucor was
known as Nuclear Corporation of America. In 1962, Nuclear Corporation
bought the Vulcraft plant in Florence, SC. At that time, he was Sales
Manager and had been with Vulcraft since 1954. Mr. Aycock became General
Manager at the Vulcraft plant in Norfolk, Nebraska in 1963. He was
instrumental in building and operating the plant. Mr. Aycock had
responsibility for the Nebraska plant and also the Grapeland, Texas
plant. In 1981, he became General Manager of the Nucor Steel plant in
Darlington, SC, and in 1985 he became President and Chief Operating
Officer. Mr. Aycock retired from Nucor on June 30, 1991. He remained on
the Board of Directors, which he had served since 1971. He became
Chairman of Nucor Corporation on October 16, 1998, and also took on the
responsibilities of Chief Executive Officer on June 2, 1999. Profile
