GLENN W. SCHAEFFER is President and Chief Financial Officer and
Treasurer of Mandalay Resort Group, one of the leading owners and
operators of world-class entertainment and business destinations
serving multiple segments of the market with casinos, hotels and
entertainment attractions in key regions of the United States. In
his role as President and CFO, Mr. Schaeffer formulates corporate
strategy; oversees financial policy, budget discipline and Wall
Street communications; directs corporate-wide marketing
(including new media); and holds responsibility for entertainment
programming in the company's theatrical venues. Mr. Schaeffer is
the industry's longest-serving President, and in his capacity as
Chief Financial Officer has raised the most money in the history
of the gaming industry. Mr. Schaeffer first joined Circus Circus
Enterprises, Inc. (now Mandalay Resort Group) following its 1983
initial public offering of shares, when the company consisted
only of its two namesake properties ' Circus Circus in Las Vegas
and Reno. In 1990, the publication Institutional Investor
identified Mr. Schaeffer as one of the top 10 corporate
financiers in America. In 2001, Las Vegas Magazine featured Mr.
Schaeffer as one of the five executives who shaped the 'New Las
Vegas.' In 1993, Mr. Schaeffer left Circus Circus Enterprises,
Inc., to become a principal of Gold Strike Resorts, a private
partnership that owned casino properties in Jean, Nevada and
Elgin, Illinois. In 1995, he was instrumental in the merger
between Gold Strike and his former employer, Circus Circus
Enterprises, Inc., to which he returned as President. Mr.
Schaeffer graduated summa cum laude in English Literature (with a
minor in Economics) from the University of California at Irvine.
He also holds Master's degrees in Literature from UC Irvine and
the prestigious Iowa Writers' Workshop at University of Iowa. In
2000, he founded the International Institute of Modern Letters, a
prominent literary benefactor that trains, promotes, translates
and protects writers of imagination. He has been awarded an
honorary PhD from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Mr.
Schaeffer is a founding Director of the Center for Responsible
Gaming and its research institute at Harvard Medical School. He
also sits on the Board of Special Olympics Northern California
