GLEN E. RONEY is the founder of Texas Regional Bancshares, Inc. and its
wholly owned subsidiary, Texas State Bank, and serves as Chairman of the
Board and Chief Executive Officer. While devoting his entire life to
banking, Mr. Roney has managed also to be very active in the community
and to work closely with many organizations over the years. He serves on
the Texas Department of Banking 'Commissioner's Council' and, in that
capacity, works closely with Commissioner Randall S. James to formulate
policy at the Texas Department of Banking. He also serves on the Texas
Banker's Association Government Relations Council and on the Governor's
Business Council. In 1993, he was appointed by Governor Ann Richards to
serve as a founding member of the South Texas Community College Board of
Trustees. He was elected to a second term in May 1998, and currently
serves as Chairman of that Board of Trustees. He has been a member of
the Executive Committee of the University of Texas Chancellor's Council
since 1985 and has served on the Board of the South Texas Higher
Education Authority. He is a member on the Board of the Council of South
Texas Economic Progress (COSTEP) and is one of the founders and a
current Board member of the Vannie E. Cook, Jr. Cancer Foundation in
McAllen. He also currently serves on the Board of Scott and White
Memorial Hospital and Scott, Sherwood & Brindley Foundation in Temple,
Texas, and has for over 18 years. He serves as the Co-Chairman of the
Texas A & M University Health Science Center Steering Committee for the
Rio Grande Valley and on the Board of the Texas A & M University System
Health Science Center Foundation. He has been recipient of several
awards including the McAllen Chamber of Commerce 2001 Outstanding Man of
