Gerald Yakatan – Avanir Pharmaceuticals (avn)

For three years prior to his appointment as President and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Gerald J. Yakatan served as Vice President for drug development at AVANIR Pharmaceuticals. He was appointed to the AVANIR Board of Directors in January 1998. In 1990, he founded Tanabe Research Labatories, USA, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Tanabe Seiyaku of Osaka, Japan, and served as President and Chief Executive Officer for five years. From 1987 until 1990, Dr. Yakatan served as Executive Vice President for Research and Development for Immunetech Pharmaceuticals. In 1980, Dr. Yakatan joined Warner-Lambert Company, Pharmceutical Research Division, as Director of Pharmacokinetics and Drug Metabolism. Three years later, he was appointed Vice President of Product Development. Dr. Yakatan has published more than sixty papers in scientific and professionals journals in the areas of pharmacokinetics, biopharmaceuticals, analysis of drugs in biological fluids and drug stability. He is a fellow of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) and the American College of Clinical Pharmacology (ACCP) and is a registered pharmacist in Pennsylvania and Florida.
