Peter Rubenovitch – Manulife Financial Corporation (mfc)

PETER RUBENOVITCH holds the position of Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Manulife Financial Corporation. He is also a member of the company's Executive Committee and Management Committee. Mr. Rubenovitch is responsible for the company's actuarial, controllership, taxation, treasury, enterprise risk management, investor relations, and other financial functions company-wide. He is the Chairman of the company's Credit Committee and is also responsible for the Reinsurance Division. In 2004, Mr. Rubenovitch was named 'Canada's CFO of the Year' by Financial Executives International. Mr. Rubenovitch holds an MBA in Finance and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Sir George Williams University, Montreal. He joined The Royal Bank of Canada in 1974 and held a number of lending and managerial positions, leading to his appointment as Vice President and Corporate Controller in 1988. In 1989, Mr. Rubenovitch joined Globe International Inc. as Senior Executive Vice President and CFO. He was founder and President of Tion Financial Corporation, a financial consultancy, from 1992 to 1995. Mr. Rubenovitch joined Manulife Financial in February 1995. He was appointed Vice President, Business Development later that year, a position that included responsibility for acquisitions, divestitures and new strategic initiatives. In January 1996, Mr. Rubenovitch was appointed Senior Vice President and Corporate Controller. Mr. Rubenovitch became Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in February 1998 and was appointed to his current position in April 2004, upon completion of the merger with John Hancock Financial Services.
