JOHN P. WALKER is currently Chairman and Chief Executive Officer and a
Director of Axys Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a public biopharmaceutical
company. From 1993 to year end 1997, he was President and Chief
Executive Officer of Arris Pharmaceutical Corporation, a predecessor
corporation. Prior to his association with Arris, Mr. Walker was the
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Vitaphore Corporation, a
biomaterials company which was sold to Union Carbide in 1990, and for a
period of 15 years was an executive with American Hospital Supply
Corporation, most recently serving as President of the Hospital Company.
Mr. Walker also serves as Chairman of BioSpace.com and Microcide
Pharmaceuticals Corporation and as a board member of Geron Corporation. Profile
