HENRY B. DUNLAP SMITH, CFA. Mr. Smith joined the firm in 1984 as a
partner. He serves as Chairman of the firm's Management and Strategy
Committees. He has additional responsibilities involving the firm's
M.I.S. and operational capabilities. As one of the senior
analysts/portfolio managers, he covers the computer software and finance
sectors. In 1975, he joined Western Asset Management Company as a senior
portfolio manager. In 1981 he became manager of their San Francisco
office and a member of the firm's management committee. In 1984 he
helped merge their equity management group into Harris Bretall.
Previously, he was associated with Clark, Dodge & Co. and Kidder Peabody
& Co. Mr. Smith received his B.A. in Political Science and Economics in
1972 from The Colorado College. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst, a
Chartered Investment Counselor, and a member of the Financial Analysts
Federation. He has also served on the Board of Directors of the Security
Analysts of San Francisco. Mr. Smith is married with four children. For
the past nine years he has served as a Trustee of the Reed Union School
