William Elder

WILLIAM ELDER founded Genus, Inc., a semiconductor equipment company in
Silicon Valley, in January 1982 and is the Chairman and Chief Executive
Officer. From October 1996 to April 1998, he served only as Chairman of
the Board. From April 1990 to September 1996, he was Chairman and Chief
Executive Officer of the company. From November 1981 to April 1990, he
was President, CEO and a Director of the company. Genus pioneered three
new manufacturing technologies into semiconductor silicon wafer
fabrication to increase the speed and density of advanced silicon chips.
These technologies are tungsten thin films, (MeV) high energy ion
implantation and most recently, atomic layer deposition technology.
Genus became a public company in 1988 and reached $100 million in
revenues in 1995.
