John Buchanan

JOHN BUCHANAN, Chairman & CEO, joined Retek Inc. in 1993 to guide its
transition from an Australia-focused software and consulting services
company to a product company developing software for the retail industry
on a global basis. This transition included the building of a completely
new organization based in Minneapolis, Minnesota and orchestrating
Retek’s acquisition by HNC Software in 1996. During his tenure he has
overseen the establishment of unique strategic partnerships around the
world with vendors, including Oracle, Andersen Consulting and others.
Prior to joining Retek, Mr. Buchanan was involved in several successful
entrepreneurial ventures and held a number of sales and management
positions with computer hardware vendors, including Wang Labs and NCR
Corporation. Mr. Buchanan was also a New Zealand Certified Public
Accountant. Mr. Buchanan has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from
University of Otago, New Zealand.
