HOWARD I. GOLDEN received his B.A., M.B.A. and JUDr. from the University
of Wisconsin, where he was co-winner of the 1972 Henry O. Morrison Award
from the American Bar Association International Law Division for the
best article on international law. Mr. Golden has practiced corporate
and international law in New York, Chicago and Jerusalem. In Israel, he
negotiated international contracts for Mayor Teddy Kollek on behalf of
the municipality of Jerusalem. In September, 1991, Mr. Golden changed
his investment focus and began managing hedge funds and limited
partnerships which invest internationally. He has lectured on closed-end
funds in London, Chicago and Prague, and is an acknowledged expert on
the Czech capital market. Mr. Golden has lectured on the Czech market at
the Graduate School of Business at the University of Chicago, to judges
and other government officials in the Czech Republic at an institute
seminar sponsored by the Czech Ministry of Justice, to the Budget
Committee of the Czech Parliament, to groups of individual Czech
business people in Prague, and at an international forum in Prague
partly sponsored by the E.U. Mr. Golden has been quoted as an expert on
closed-end funds in The Economist, The Wall Street Journal, Business
Central Europe, and the Prague Business Journal, among others. He
directs the Manhattan Funds, LLC, the umbrella organization for four
international hedge funds, controlling over $70 million of assets as of
May, 1997 and is the President of the General Partner of those funds.
Consolidated Management Enterprises, Ltd., the General Partner of one of
the funds, was selected as #1 out of 82 funds in international equity by
Nelson’s World’s Best Money Managers for the 20 quarters ending December
31, 1996.
