GEORGE A. SCHLOEGEL is Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
of Hancock Holding Company. Rising from high-school-age mailroom
employee to Chief Executive Officer of one of America’s
strongest, safest five-star financial institutions, the veteran
Mississippi banker has earned an enviable record of career and
community achievement spanning 46 years. A graduate of Louisiana
State University as well as senior management tracks at Harvard
Business School, Columbia University and Northwestern University,
he has actively managed almost every facet of company operations.
Additionally, whether serving as distinguished faculty member at
the Mississippi School of Banking and the Graduate School of
Banking at Louisiana State University, leading innumerable state
and regional civic and business initiatives, he has inspired the
highest standards of commitment and integrity among colleagues,
community leaders and government officials who recognize Mr.
