Detthold Aden

DETTHOLD ADEN (born in 1948) started his professional career in the
forwarding and dispatch sector. After his education and years of
practical training and experience at various companies, he became
founder managing director of United Parcel Service (UPS) in Germany in
1976. In 1982 Aden took over sole management of Bertelsmann subsidiary
VVA, the later Bertelsmann Distribution GmbH. The enterprise was awarded
the German Logistics Prize in 1987. In 1988 he was appointed chairman of
the management of the Union-Transport Group. His own initiative led to
the establishment of the franchise cooperation Unitrans and the merger
with the Nedlloyd Group. In 1990 Aden took over as chairman of the
management at Thyssen Haniel Logistic GmbH and was responsible for the
merger between Thyssen Trans and Haniel Spedition. In 1995 he was
additionally appointed a member of the Board of Management of Thyssen
Handelsunion AG. Due to the concentration of the Thyssen Group on its
core competencies, the THL Group was sold to the Belgian Railway in
1998. Since 1999 Detthold Aden has been chairman of the Board of
Management of the BLG Logistics Group.
