JAN RASK grew up in Sweden, where he received his undergraduate degree
at the Stockholm School of Economics in Business Administration in 1979.
He started his business career in Stockholm at Salen Shipping AB and
became General Manager of the wholly-owned subsidiary Salen Reefer
Services. From 1983 to 1985 he was Director of Finance in Salen Project
Liner Services in New York. After a short period with Stena AB, Mr. Rask
became Executive Vice President Frontline AB in Stockholm. In 1990 he
became President and Chief Executive Officer of Arethusa (Off-Shore)
Limited in Houston, Texas, a post he held until 1996 when the company
was sold to Diamond Offshore. Thereafter he assumed his current role as
President and Chief Executive Officer of Marine Drilling Companies, Inc.
Mr. Rask is a Director of Veritas DGC, Inc., a seismic company providing
geophysical services to enhance drilling success. Profile
TWST: Could we start out with a history and quick overview of MarineDrilling?
Mr. Rask: Marine Drilling was formed in the early 1960s, by the very
legendary Jimmy Storm. It was predominantly
