IAIN CATER is the Chief Executive of SSL International Plc. After
graduating from Liverpool University with a Mechanical Engineering
degree, Iain Cater spent time with BOC and ICL, and obtained his FCMA
qualification. In 1979, he joined Seton Healthcare Ltd as Financial
Controller, becoming Finance Director in 1980, and Managing Director
from 1984 to 1990. In July 1990 he became Chief Executive of Seton
Healthcare Group Plc on flotation. In 1996, he was elected Companion of
the Institute of Management (CIMgT), by invitation only. In June 1998,
he became Chief Executive of Seton Scholl Healthcare Plc and a year
later was appointed Chief Executive of new formed SSL International Plc.
Mr Cater is married and has four children, his main interest is Golf.
In 1996, Mr Cater qualified as a team member for The Times/ Meespierson
Corporate Golf Challenge. The Seton team won its regional heat and went
through to the final at La Manga, which was televised. They tied for
the first place but lost on the play-off.
