Glenn C. Reid

Glenn C. Reid, Founder and CEO of Five Across, is a pioneer in the
software industry, bringing innovation to electronic publishing,
graphics, video, at the applications and system software levels. Most
recently, Glenn was Director of Engineering, Consumer Applications at
Apple Computer, where he helped create the “digital hub” strategy. Glenn
conceived, designed, and implemented iMovie 1.0, a revolution in
consumer software, in less than a year. He went on to do the same thing
with iPhoto 1.0, and carried both products forward through several
versions as Director of Engineering for Consumer Applications. iMovie
and iPhoto were the first ground-up applications from Apple computer in
over a decade. Glenn began his career as a systems programmer at Adobe
Systems in 1985-one of the first 25 people at the company, before it was
public. Glenn has developed key industry standards formats) and has
worked on many category-changing applications (Adobe Illustrator,
Fractal Design Painter) over the past 18 years. Glenn started a software
company in 1990 focused on the NeXT computer platform, where he
developed the award-winning PasteUp page layout application. He has held
positions as VP of Engineering at several companies including Fractal
Design, Vitria, ebrary, and Artifex. Glenn is named as inventor or co-
inventor on 11 patent applications for software innovation, and holds a
B.S. degree in Computer Science from the University of Wisconsin.
