Gavin R. Arton

GAVIN R. ARTON is Senior Vice President, Investor Relations of XL
Capital Ltd in Hamilton, Bermuda. He is responsible for the company’s
liaison and communication with the investment community and for media
relations. In September 2003, he was appointed to the newly-created role
of Director of Global Corporate Social Responsibility and Philanthropy
in XL Capital Ltd’s Office of Corporate Relations. In addition, he is
President of the XL Foundation ‘ XL Capital Ltd’s charitable arm. Prior
to joining XL in 1992, Mr. Arton was Vice President’Financial Relations
of CIGNA Corporation in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He joined CIGNA in
1984 from American International Group, Inc. (AIG), where since 1972 he
had held several positions in insurance and reinsurance underwriting,
captive insurance management, marketing and investor relations, both in
Bermuda and in New York. Mr. Arton was born in Bermuda, attended Saltus
Grammar School, Upper Canada College in Toronto and received his BA from
Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario. He also holds an MBA from The
College of Insurance in New York. Mr. Arton is a member of the National
Investor Relations Institute (NIRI), and is a past President of the
Investor Relations Association, whose membership is limited to senior
practitioners of investor relations for companies trading on US
securities exchanges. He also serves as a Trustee or Director of several
Bermuda-based organizations and is a member of the Institute of
Directors.
