JOHN HAWKINS is the Chief Executive of Anite Group PLC. He has almost
twenty-three years experience in data communications and computing in
both the hardware and software industries, the vast majority of which
has been spent with Philips. His highly successful career has covered
the three distinct industries of Telecommunications, Computing and
latterly Multimedia. During his career, he has held senior posts in
several major corporations including Chief Executive at Graseby PLC and
President (Europe) of Philips Media. As Director and General Manager of
Digital Equipment Corporation, he controlled their $1.2 billion
worldwide Retail Banking business, specialising in application software
and directly employing 1, 000 people. Whilst Executive
Vice-President of Philips Media he managed 2, 500 staff and was
responsible for generating $500 million of revenue. During his
stewardship of Graseby PLC the market capitalisation increased from GBP
90 million to GBP 136 million. He also built up Philips Media from a
start-up to revenues of GBP 83 million with 350 employees in just 18
months and gained a market-leading position in Europe in just 12 months
