James F. Pickard – Core Technologies Plc

DR. JAMES F. PICKARD is Chief Executive of Core Technologies plc. He was educated at Paisley College of Technology and the Universities of Strathclyde and Manchester. His qualifications include BSc (Pharmacy) and PhD (Pharmaceutical Technology). Dr. Pickard spent nine years working in the Research & Development Department of Sandoz AG in Basles, and then five years as U.K. Research Director for Apothekernes Laboratorium A/S in Oslo. In 1983, he established his own business, providing specialist consultancy services to the pharmaceutical industry. In 1986, Dr. Pickard was appointed as Managing Director of Controlled Therapeutics (Scotland) Ltd (CTS), a company specializing in drug delivery technologies, which he founded in Scotland on behalf of a group of American investors. CTS was floated on the American Stock Exchange through a reverse merger with a quoted company in 1989, followed by several equity restructuring deals. During this time the company launched its first drug delivery product on the U.K. market. Dr. Pickard led the team which founded Core Technologies Ltd in 1992 and has taken it through several rounds of private finance totaling 11 million to a full listing on the London Stock Exchange in 1997 to raise a further 25 million.
