DR. K. WAYNE MARSHALL, President and Chief Executive Officer of
ChondroGene Limited, is a Founder of ChondroGene, and is an orthopedic
surgeon, knee subspecialist and research scientist. He has been a key
business development lead for ChondroGene and has been President and CEO
since January 2002. Dr. Marshall is an orthopedic surgeon at the Toronto
Western Hospital, University Health Network; Assistant Professor of
Surgery at the University of Toronto; and Team Surgeon for the Toronto
Argonauts of the Canadian Football League. Dr. Marshall received a BSc
from Michigan State University in 1973, an MD from Wayne State
University in 1977, and a PhD in Joint Neurophysiology from the
University of Toronto in 1984. Dr. Marshall has extensive clinical
experience with osteoarthritis (OA), ranging from the earliest stages of
cartilage injury and initial onset to end-stage disease requiring joint
replacement. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Marshall has
published over 100 basic research and clinical scientific papers and
abstracts. He has also been a consultant to a number of pharmaceutical
and biotech companies due to his expertise in the area of OA. Dr.
Marshall's 'bench to bedside' expertise provides ChondroGene with a
unique perspective that bridges the gap between clinical and research
