Rex L. Steffey – Jay Jacobs Inc (jayj)

REX L. STEFFEY is President and Chief Executive Officer of Jay Jacobs, Inc. He joined the Company in September 1994 shortly after the it filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection. Just 14 months later, he led the Company out of Chapter 11 in November 1995. He was able to recruit and build a new executive team while implementing a new merchandise strategy catering to a new target market. Previously, he was the President and Chief Operating Officer at Paul Harris Stores, Inc., an Indiana based fashion retailer similar to that of Jay Jacobs. He helped them emerge from Chapter 11 in September 1992. He is credited with revamping the merchandise strategy and overseeing the distribution functions, Marketing and Management Information Services during this time. His 20 years of retail experience include various executive merchandising positions at Paul Harris from 1975 to 1991 and in senior merchandising positions with Cato Corporation and Montgomery Ward.
