PETER A. DEA is Chief Executive Officer, President and a member
of the Board of Directors of Western Gas Resources, Inc., Denver,
Colorado. Mr. Dea has 20 years of experience in the oil and gas
industry. He most recently served as Chairman of the Board and
Chief Executive Officer of Barrett Resources Corporation until
August 2001. He held several other executive positions at Barrett
since 1994 including Executive Vice President ' Exploration.
Prior to joining Barrett, Mr. Dea served as President of Nautilus
Oil and Gas Company and held various management and geologic
positions for Exxon Company USA. Mr. Dea has served on the Board
of the Colorado Oil & Gas Association since 1995 where he served
as President in 2001. He also serves on the Board of Trustees for
the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, the American Geologic
Institute Foundation and the Western State College Foundation.
Mr. Dea co-sponsored the establishment of the Scholarship for
Excellence in Geology, Western State College in 1998. Mr. Dea
also serves on the Board of Directors for EchoStar
Communications. In addition to receiving Geology degrees from the
University of Montana, MA, and Western State College, BA, Mr. Dea
also attended the Harvard Business School Advanced Management
Program. Mr. Dea is a certified Petroleum Geologist in Wyoming
and a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists,
Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists, American Alpine Club,
American Whitewater Association, Volunteers of Outdoor Colorado
