John Televantos – Foamex International Inc (fmxi)

JOHN TELEVANTOS is President and Chief Executive Officer of Foamex International Inc. He was named President and Chief Executive Officer of the company early in 2001. He joined Foamex in May 1999 as President of the Foam Business Group, with responsibility for the company's Foam and Automotive Products business units, and the following year was named to the Board of Directors. Mr. Televantos began his career at Union Carbide Corporation in 1977 as Process R&D Engineer. When Union Carbide's urethane business was acquired by ARCO in 1991, Mr. TeIevantos was named Director of ARCO's Urethane Technology. He represented ARCO at SPI and on the American Plastics Council, and was Associate Editor of the Journal of Cellular Plastics. During his tenure with ARCO, Mr. Televantos is credited with overall leadership of the company's business development and technology programs and with establishing partnership programs with key customers. When ARCO was acquired by Lyondell Chemical Company in 1998, Mr. Televantos was named Lyondell's Vice President, Development Businesses and Research, with responsibility for developing new global markets for polyurethanes ' a position he held until joining Foamex. Mr. Televantos earned his BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of London in 1973, followed by a PhD in Chemical Engineering at the University of London's Imperial College in 1977. Profile
