John L. Mcdonald – Jlm Industries (jlmi)

JOHN L. MACDONALD is Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of JLM Industries, Inc. Mr. Macdonald spent the first portion of his career in sales, management and operations positions with Clark Chemical, ICC Industries and the Steuber Group. In 1977, he co-founded Gill & Duffus Chemicals and served as President and Director of the holding company. His 1978 industry 'coup' of proposing and concluding the largest chemical contract of exclusive off-take of a by-product with GE Plastics subsequently led to his purchase of Gill & Duffus and its merger with the Steuber Group. The resulting company became the newly formed JLM Industries, Inc., in 1986. In 1995 he purchased Clark Chemicals operations to add to JLM Industries' group of companies. He has been the President, CEO and majority stockholder of the Tampa, Florida-based company since that time. A co-Founder of the Northeast Chemical Association, a graduate of Colorado College and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, Mr. Macdonald has lectured on international trade, spoken before Congressional committees on international marketing and has been published by the Chemical Manufacturers Research Association. He is also a member of the National Petroleum Refiners Association, the European Petrochemical Association and numerous clubs. In 1998 Mr. Macdonald was named Florida's International Businessperson of the Year by the Florida Council of International Development. Profile
