Joe Peterson – On Assignement Inc (asgn)

DR. JOE PETERSON is President and Chief Executive Officer of On Assignment, Inc. On Assignment's centralized healthcare staffing operations are based in Cincinnati, Ohio. Dr. Peterson has been President and CEO since September 2001. Prior to joining On Assignment, Inc., he co-founded and was Chief Executive Officer of three companies providing innovative customer care to large institutional clients primarily in the financial services industry; two were based in Toronto, Canada, and were successfully sold to Zurich Insurance, a client, and the third, based in Washington, DC, was sold to Convergys, an industry leader. Dr. Peterson began his business career in Washington, DC, with a subsidiary of the Blue Cross & Blue Shield plan of the National Capital Area. In addition to his membership on the Board of Directors of On Assignment, Dr. Peterson also serves as member and Treasurer on the Board of the Global Health Council, the world's largest membership association dedicated to the advancement of public health. Dr. Peterson is a Board-certified emergency physician, and practiced his specialty for 10 years as an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine in the Emergency Department of the George Washington University Hospital, in Washington, DC. Before arriving in Washington, Dr. Peterson worked for the East African Flying Doctor Service, based in Nairobi, Kenya, and at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He continues to provide scholarships to support exposing American medical students to foreign medical systems and global health issues. Dr. Peterson completed residency training in emergency medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, after earning a BA and MD in six years in the Inteflex Accelerated Program at the University of Michigan Medical School.
