EDWARD KELLY – MERCANTILE BANKSHARES CORPORATION (MRBK)

EDWARD (NED) KELLY joined Mercantile Bankshares Corporation as its President and Chief Executive in 2001. He became Chairman in 2003. Mr. Kelly came to Mercantile from J.P. Morgan Chase, where he was head of Global Financial Institutions and co-head of Investment Banking Client Management. He had joined J.P. Morgan in 1994 as its General Counsel and Secretary. In 1996 he became a Managing Director and subsequently ran various parts of Morgan's investment banking business. Prior to joining J.P. Morgan, he was a partner with the law firm of Davis Polk & Wardwell, where he specialized in matters related to financial institutions. He received his Bachelor's degree from Princeton University and his JD from the University of Virginia School of Law. He serves on a number of corporate and nonprofit Boards. Profile
