JAN W. VANDERSANDE is President and CEO of Mountain Province Diamonds
Inc. He is a widely published expert on the thermal and electrical
properties of diamonds. As President and CEO of Mountain Province
Diamonds, he and Dr. Paul Shatzko, the Chairman, negotiated a joint
venture agreement with De Beers to explore and develop the company's
property in Canada's Northwest Territories. Dr. Vandersande is a former
financial and scientific consultant and mining analyst. He has advised
brokerage firms, money managers and private clients on natural resource
companies and commodities. He also provided scientific consulting on
solid state physics to NASA and the DOE as part of the space program and
defense industry. Dr. Vandersande's other areas of expertise include
energy conversion, diamond film technology and thermal management. Dr.
Vandersande's education includes a Doctoral degree in Solid State
Physics from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa. He has
published over 80 scientific papers in journals and conference
proceedings and has contributed several sections to books edited by
