Utilizing Trends for Stock Selection Over the Longer Term

David W. Hunter founded Hunter Associates, Inc., in July 1992, after 37 years in the securities industry. He started his career in 1954 as a Stockbroker with McKelvy & Company, where he had become a Partner and Manager of the underwriting, research and corporate finance departments. In 1969, McKelvy & Company merged with Kay Richards & Company to form Parker/Hunter, Incorporated. Mr. Hunter served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer from 1975 to 1984, remained Chairman through 1989, and held the position of Chairman Emeritus until he started Hunter Associates. Mr. Hunter attended Shady Side Academy in Pittsburgh, graduated cum laude from Amherst College with a bachelor’s degree in economics, holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and served two years in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He has lectured at Harvard, The Wharton School, Carnegie Mellon University, University of Virginia and the Katz School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh. Throughout his career, Mr. Hunter has been active in industry affairs. Some of his many accomplishments include serving as Chairman for industry organizations such as Nasdaq, the board of governors of the National Association of Securities Dealers, the regional firms committee of the New York Stock Exchange and the Securities Industry Association. He has also served as a member of the board of governors of the Chicago Stock Exchange and the Harvard Business School Club of Pittsburgh. In addition, he has served as a Director of numerous companies, including Fidelity Guard Services Inc., Kiene Diesel Accessories and Lockhart Companies. He also has served on the boards of civic, educational, nonprofit and charitable organizations, including the American Red Cross, Boy Scouts of America, FINRA Investor Education Foundation, Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council and Westminster College. Mr. Hunter wrote a book for investors, Never Out of Season: A Timeless Guide to Building Your Wealth in 1992 and updated the book in 2001. Profile
