Thomas Mengel – Waddell & Reed Investment Management Co

THOMAS A. MENGEL is a Senior Vice President of Waddell & Reed Investment Management Company and Waddell & Reed Ivy Investment Company. He is a graduate of the University of Berlin with a degree in Business, Finance and Economics (an MBA equivalent). Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Mengel was President of Sal. Oppenheim jr. & Cie. Securities in New York which provided research and analysis of German and Swiss companies to United States and Canadian institutional investors. Prior to Sal. Oppenheim, he was a Vice President at Hauck & Hope Securities in New York as a German equities broker and as manager of German Equities at Berliner Bank in Berlin. Mr. Mengel began his career at Suedwestdeutsche Landesbank in Stuttgart as a financial analyst of British, German, Italian, Spanish and Swiss markets. He became a manager of the bank's portfolio and co- managed a $100 million global stock fund. Mr. Mengel joined Waddell & Reed in May 1996. He was appointed a Senior Vice President in July 2000. He is portfolio manager of international growth equity institutional accounts, Waddell & Reed Advisors International Growth Fund, W&R Target Funds International Portfolio and four Ivy international mutual funds.
