MANUEL JOHN MEHOS has been Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive
Officer of Coastal Banc, Inc., and Coastal Banc ssb since February 1986.
He was a member of the Finance Commission of Texas from June 1996 to
August 2002 and a member of the Board of Directors of America's
Community Bankers from January 1996 to November 2001. Mr. Mehos was a
member of the Board of Directors of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas
from 1991 to 1996, Chairman of the Board from January 1994 to January
1995 and Vice Chairman from January 1995 to December 1996. He was a
member of the Board of Directors of the Texas Savings and Community
Bankers from 1991 to 1995 and served as Chairman of the Board from June
1993 to June 1994. From 1980 to 1985 he was in securities sales with
Goldman Sachs & Co. and from 1978 to 1980 he was a Certified Public
Accountant with Peet Marwick & Mitchell. Mr. Mehos received a Master's
degree in Business Administration (Finance) and a Bachelor's degree in
Business Administration (Accounting) from the University of Texas at
