JOHN C. EAST, Chief Executive Officer and President of Actel
Corporation, joined the company in December 1988. Mr. East came to Actel
with more than 20 years' experience in the semiconductor industry. He
had been a Senior Vice President at AMD where he was responsible for the
Logic Products Group. He also held various marketing, engineering and
management positions at Raytheon Semiconductor and Fairchild
Semiconductor. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Adaptec
Corporation (Nasdaq: ADPT) and Single Chip Corporation, a privately held
company. Mr. East holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
and a Master's degree in Business Administration from the University of
