FRANCIS P. BARTON joined Advanced Micro Devices in September 1998 as
Senior Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer. Prior to
AMD, Mr. Barton was the Chief Financial Officer of Amdahl Corporation,
where he worked for two years. Prior to joining Amdahl, he spent 22
years with Digital Equipment Corporation, where his most recent position
was Vice President Personal Computer Business Unit. Before entering the
computer industry, Mr. Barton served with the United States Army Special
Forces Group for three years, stationed in Okinawa, Japan. Mr. Barton
holds an MBA from Northeastern University, as well as a BS degree in
Chemical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Mr. Barton is
