Gene Banucci

GENE BANUCCI is presently the Chairman and CEO of ATMI, Inc. He
has served in that role since co-founding ATMI in 1986 along with
a team of scientists who had a vision of creating a preeminent
semiconductor materials company. The company went public in 1993
with only $10 million in revenues that grew to $300 million in
2000 as the result of an aggressive technology development and
M&A strategy. Prior to starting ATMI, Mr. Banucci served as a
Director for American Cyanamid’s Chemical Research Division,
where he directed more than 400 scientists and engineers in new
product research and development for this $1 billion unit.
Previous to that position, he was with General Electric Company
for over 10 years in a variety of positions at its corporate R&D
center and its Plastic Division. Mr. Banucci holds 21 issued US
patents and is an author of numerous published scientific
articles. He is a founding member of the Connecticut Technology
Council, a member of the Board of the Program on Innovation and
Technology of the National Research Council, a member of the
Board of Directors of Wentworth Laboratories, and a member of the
Board of Trustees of Beloit College. He received his PhD in
Organic Chemistry from Wayne State University and his BA in
Chemistry from Beloit College.
