Arthur R. Buckland

ARTHUR R. BUCKLAND is Chairman, President & CEO of CP Clare Corporation,
a position he has held since September 1993. He has previously held
senior management positions for Texas Instruments, Fairchild, Teradyne
and Schlumberger and run several independent companies. Mr. Buckland has
started several businesses and joint ventures throughout Asia and has
lived and worked in many European and North American locations. As a PDG
and Vice President, Mr. Buckland converted Schlumberger’s largest, most
unprofitable non-oil division into the most profitable multi-
technology, high growth division with operations in eleven countries. As
President of Lex Electronics ( a $1 billion per year company
headquartered in London), he turned Lex from a loss to a profit which
ultimately led to a U.S. $500 million gain on book value from the sale
of Lex to Arrow. In July of 1996, Mr. Buckland was awarded the
Entrepreneur of the Year award, Turnaround category, sponsored by Ernst
& Young, NASDAQ and others. The award was for his work at CP Clare,
almost doubling the revenues while taking the company from near
insolvency to IPO in less than two years. Two successful public
offerings raised $75 million. Mr. Buckland has an M.B.A. with Honors
from Harvard Business School, an MSEE from Syracuse University, and
speaks five languages. He sits on the boards of Helix Corporation,
General Scanning and Emerson Hospital. Mr. Buckland is married and has
one son. His interests range from international travel and diverse
cultures to participating in sports activities.
