McDonald, Timothy
Timothy McDonald is Chief Operating Officer of magicJack VocalTec Ltd. Mr. McDonald has over 20 years experience in the Internet and communications industries and a broad range of management experience. He is the Founder of Scatteree Partners, which was formed in 2012 to develop and operate new mobile data services in partnership with mobile network enabler Simplexity and wireless network operator Sprint. Prior to founding Scatteree Partners, Mr. McDonald was a Partner at Eagle River, Craig McCaw's private investment company and represented Eagle River on the board of Clearwire, a 4G wireless operator, as well as on the board of a private company developing advanced location-based technology. At Eagle River Mr. McDonald led the restructuring of a privately held online video provider. Prior to Eagle River, Mr. McDonald was responsible for the global communications investments for a $3 billion principal investment team at Merrill Lynch. Mr. McDonald represented Merrill Lynch on the boards of ArrayComm, as well as a German mobile data operator, Deutsche Breitband Dienste GmbH. Mr. McDonald was the founding CEO of a Web-based software company and was responsible for raising investment capital, recruiting and leading the software development and design team, which included VP of Engineering Dick Costolo, now CEO of Twitter. Previously Mr. McDonald was responsible for analyzing and executing technology investments for an affiliate of the Kiewit Diversified Group. Mr. McDonald began his career in Washington, D.C., where he played an instrumental role in the successful development of The Dulles Greenway, a major privately financed infrastructure project in Northern Virginia.
