JAMES SMITH – EXCHANGE NATIONAL BANCSHARES INC (EXJF)

JAMES E. SMITH , Chairman and CEO of Exchange National Bancshares, Inc., was the 2001-2002 President of the American Bankers Association. He is Chairman and CEO of Citizens Union State Bank & Trust in Clinton, Missouri. Mr. Smith was elected to his current bank position in 1974 and became President of Union State Bancshares Inc., Clinton, Missouri in 1997. In 2002 he was elected Chairman and CEO of Exchange National Bancshares, Inc. Mr. Smith entered banking in 1967 as a computer programmer, and was later promoted to Assistant Vice President of the correspondent banking department at Boatmen's Union National Bank in Springfield, Missouri. Prior to that he was a computer programmer for General Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, and from 1963 to 1966 was a professional baseball player in the New York Yankee baseball organization. An active volunteer with ABA, his service includes the chairmanship of the Communications Council, the Government Relations Council, the Bankers Electronic Network and the Task Force on Government Relations Grassroots. He is a past ABA Director and a past President of the Missouri Bankers Association. Mr. Smith is a Board member of the Clinton Industrial Development Corporation and a past President of the Clinton Chamber of Commerce. He holds a BS in Business from Southwest Missouri State University, and is a graduate of Cannon Trust School in Charlotte, North Carolina. Profile
