Ronald A. Ostertag

RONALD A. OSTERTAG, CEO and Chairman of General Semiconductor Inc., was
appointed CEO and President of General Semiconductor Inc. in January
1997 and Chairman in June 1997. Mr. Ostertag was appointed Vice
President of General Instrument Corporation in 1989 and President of
GI’s Power Semiconductor Division in September 1990. During 1989-1990,
he held the position of Senior VP Operations of General Instrument’s
VideoCipher Division, with continued responsibilities for the Computer
Products Division operations. From 1984 to 1989 Mr. Ostertag was VP/GM
of General Instrument’s Computer Products Division, headquartered in El
Paso, TX. He joined General Instrument Corporation in 1978 as VP/GM of
Far East Operations for the Power Semiconductor Division in Taipei,
Taiwan. He served as VP Operations for the Components Group in New York
City from 198 to 1984. In addition, Mr. Ostertag spent nine years with
National Semiconductor Corporation, holding various positions of
responsibility, including Director of International Manufacturing and
Logistics. He also served as National’s Singapore Plant Manager from
1973 to 1976. After graduating from Georgia Institute of Technology, he
joined Fairchild Semiconductor in San Raphael, California. He holds a BS
in Industrial Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and
attended Columbia University’s Advanced Management Training for
Strategic Planning. Mr. Ostertag sits on the Board of Directors for The
Victory Schools – Roosevelt (Charter School); is on the Board of
Trustees at Dowling College in Long Island, NY, and is on the New York
Executive Committee of the American Electronics Association.
