Douglas B. Stewart

DOUGLAS B. STEWART is Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of
Sobeys, Inc., now the second-largest food distributor in Canada,
headquartered in Nova Scotia. Throughout his 32-year career in the
Canadian food industry, he has developed operational and senior
management experience in corporate and franchised supermarkets, as well
as wholesale and foodservice distribution in Ontario, Quebec and
Atlantic Canada. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland on August 13, 1940, Mr.
Stewart and his family emigrated to Canada in 1967. He was educated at
The Royal High School of Edinburgh, the C.A. Institute of Scotland and
Edinburgh University, where he studied Accounting & Business Methods. He
is fluent in English and French. Mr. Stewart has also attended various
Executive Development Programs at Queen’s University and Harvard
Business School.
