JEFFREY S. TAUBER is Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board
of CyberShop. com, Inc. CyberShop is the brainchild of entrepreneur
Mr.Tauber, who became fascinated by the online world while working as an
award-winning merchandiser at Bloomingdale's. The realm of technology
and its potential commercial opportunities were a powerful lure to the
young and ambitious entrepreneur. After leaving Bloomingdale's to become
President of Avanti Linens, a leading U.S. manufacturer of decorative
bath towels, Mr. Tauber's interest in computers and technology
intensified. Captured by his belief that the online world held untapped
potential for the future of retail commerce, he began to visualize a
virtual department store online. As the conceptualization of CyberShop
consumed Mr. Tauber completely, he resigned from the presidency of
Avanti Linens and sold a lucrative multi-head embroidery business that
he had founded to devote himself to making his CyberShop vision a
virtual reality. His passion and drive were infectious and he soon
assembled a dedicated and equally enthusiastic team of award-winning
merchandisers. Together, they launched CyberShop in 1994 and watched
their vision go 'live' online when CyberShop was introduced to the World
Wide Web in the Fall of 1995. Since CyberShop's inception, Mr. Tauber
has been actively involved with every element of the business's
operations. A charismatic and compelling speaker, he is often asked to
participate in online conferences and discussion panel groups.
Epitomizing the entrepreneurial dream of creating a successful business,
he continues to enjoy extensive media coverage for his role in
pioneering the online retail industry. Before his career at Avanti, Mr.
Tauber was a Buyer and Merchandise Manager for Bloomingdale's where his
areas of responsibility included bed pillows, blankets, sheets, women's
swimwear, and ready-to-wear. While at Bloomingdale's, Mr. Tauber was
named Federated Buyer of the Year in 1987. He graduated from Washington
University, St. Louis, with a BA in Economics and is an active member of
the Young Presidents Organization. Profile
