Vab Goel – Virtela

VAB GOEL founded Virtela in April 2000 and is chairman of the board and CEO. Vab is also a partner with Norwest Venture Partners, a premier venture capital firm focused on early stage investments in enterprise software and communications technologies. Before joining Norwest, Vab was a senior executive at Qwest. As vice president of IP network engineering and advanced technology, he created and implemented the "Qwest IP Network and Data Center Strategy", designed to enable seamless services with open standards and a strong customer focus. He also served Qwest as vice president of emerging technologies, a group he founded. In that position, he was responsible for identifying new networking technologies. Prior to joining Qwest, Vab worked at Sprint, where he was the principal architect for the Sprint Internet backbone and where he contributed to the company's IP and optical network strategy.
