Selling Protection & Revenue Assurance To Technology Companies: Garrett Melby – Safeguard Scientifics Inc

GARRETT MELBY, Director of Acquisitions for Safeguard Scientifics, Inc., leads acquisition strategy, origination and execution across Safeguard's business services, software and life sciences disciplines. Mr. Melby joined Safeguard to assist in repositioning the company in preparation for an $850 million public offering in early 2000 and served for two years as Vice President for Services and Software, managing Safeguard's venture investments in these sectors. He has served as a Director of several private and public Safeguard partner companies and is a frequent speaker at technology and venture capital conferences. He began his career as a mergers and acquisitions attorney with the international law firm Skadden, Arps, managing complex, multi-billion dollar domestic and international transactions and joint ventures. His experience includes two years in the firm's London office, focused on the restructuring and privatization of several national telecommunications carriers. He also has considerable corporate finance experience, having represented issuers, LBO and venture capital investors and underwriters in public equity offerings raising over $5 billion, including over $3.5 billion raised in IPOs for technology and telecommunications companies.
