ROBERT S. PATTEN is a Director in the equity research department at UBS Warburg, New York office, responsible for coverage of US regional banks. Prior to joining UBS Warburg, he was associated with Lehman Brothers and Salomon Brothers. Previously, he spent 16 years in the commercial banking industry with Summit Bancorp and PNC Bank. The majority of his career was spent in various capacities in the middle market lending and credit functions. He holds a BS in Accounting and Finance from Monmouth University. Profile
JEFF K. DAVIS, CFA, joined Guggenheim Partners in March 2010 as a Managing Director in the public equities capital markets unit, where his coverage universe is focused on regional banks and specialty finance. Before Guggenheim, Mr. Davis headed the Financial Institutions Group at FTN Equity Capital Markets from 2000 to 2010, when FTN Equity elected to exit the equities business. Before joining FTN Equity, he was the regional bank and thrift Analyst at Nashville-based J.C. Bradford & Co., which was acquired by Paine Webber in 2000. Before joining J.C. Bradford, Mr. Davis spent 10 years at Mercer Capital Management, a valuation and transaction advisory firm. From 1995 to 1999, he headed Mercer Capital Advisors, which provided M&A and transaction advisory services for financial institutions, private middle-market businesses and small public companies. Mr. Davis began his career at AmSouth-Mobile in 1985. He is a periodic speaker at industry gatherings, various state banking meetings in addition to making several presentations to the boards and executive management teams of small and large banks each year. He is a periodic guest on CNBC, Bloomberg TV and Bloomberg Radio and is regularly quoted in the American Banker, The Wall Street Journal, Reuters and other media outlets. COLLYN BEMENT GILBERT, Senior Vice President of Ryan Beck & Co. LLC, has been following the small and mid-cap bank and thrift sector on both the buy and sell side for over nine years. Before joining Ryan Beck & Co. in April 2002, she was a Senior Equity Analyst with Ferris, Baker Watts in Baltimore. Prior to Ferris, she was an analyst with Hovde Financial, a Washington, DC-based boutique investment banking firm. CHARLES N. ERNST joined Putnam Lovell Securities, Inc., in June 1999 as a Research Analyst in the Commercial Banking sector. He was recently promoted to Vice President. While at Putnam Lovell, Mr. Ernst's coverage has focused on Southeastern banks, while dedicating time to other larger issues within the banking sector. Prior to joining Putnam Lovell, Mr. Ernst was an associate on the second highest ranked 1999 bank team, according to Institutional Investor, while at Salomon Smith Barney. Jason Goldberg is a Senior Vice President and Senior Research Analyst at Lehman Brothers covering the Regional Banking industry. He joined Lehman in July 2000. He began covering the banking industry in June 1995 at Smith Barney and then at Salomon Smith Barney. He was named to the Institutional Investor magazine's All-American Research Team for Mid-Cap Banks in 2002, ranking #1, the inaugural year of this category. Bain Slack is a Vice President in the Research Department of Keefe, Bruyette & Woods covering regional banks in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas. Most recently, he was a Research Analyst covering Southwest regional banks at CIBC World Markets. Prior to that he was with Vinson & Elkins, a Houston-based law firm.
