NANDAN M. NILEKANI is Chief Executive Officer, President and Managing
Director of Infosys Technologies Limited. He was appointed Managing
Director, President and Chief Operating Officer of Infosys in February
1999. He is one of the seven Founders of Infosys and has served as a
Director on the company's Board since its inception in 1981. On March
31, 2002, Mr. Nilekani assumed duties as Infosys CEO, President and
Managing Director. Prior to assuming his current position, Mr. Nilekani
held the post of Deputy Managing Director, and from 1981 to 1987 was
based in the United States where he was responsible for Infosys'
worldwide sales and marketing. Mr. Nilekani began his professional
career in the software group of Patni Computer Systems. He also co-
founded India's National Association of Software and Service Companies
as well as the Bangalore Chapter of The IndUS Entrepreneurs (TiE), a
non-profit global network of professionals established to foster
entrepreneurship. Mr. Nilekani serves on the London Business School's
Asia Pacific Regional Advisory Board. In addition, he is a member of the
Global Advisory Council of The Conference Board, an international
research and business membership organization. He is a member of the
Initiative for Social Innovation through Business at the Aspen
Institute. He also serves as the co-Chairman of the Advisory Board of
the IIT Bombay Heritage Fund. Mr. Nilekani earned a Bachelor's degree in
Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT),
Bombay, in 1978. He received the institute's Distinguished Alumnus Award
