MARK J. SCHULTE is President, Chief Executive Officer and a Director of
Brookdale Living Communities, Inc. Brookdale currently operates 23
properties in 14 states containing 5,100 units. From January 1991 to
immediately prior to Brookdale's offering, Mr. Schulte was employed by
The Prime Group, Inc. as Executive Vice President, heading the senior
housing division the predecessor entity to Brookdale. Prior to joining
Prime, Mr. Schulte had 13 years of experience in development and
operation of multi-family housing, senior and assisted living and health
care facilities. Mr. Schulte received a BA in 1975 and a JD in 1978 from
Saint Louis University. Mr. Schulte is licensed to practice law in the
State of New York and serves as Chairman of the American Seniors Housing
