JOSEF H. VON RICKENBACH is Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of
PAREXEL International Corporation, a contract pharmaceutical outsourcing
organization that he co-founded in 1983. With more than 20 years of
industry experience, Mr. Von Rickenbach has an extensive background in
the management of healthcare products/services companies including a
thorough understanding of regulatory, clinical and economic aspects
associated with the research and development of pharmaceutical and
biomedical products. In addition, Mr. Von Rickenbach's knowledge of
finance, mergers and acquisitions and other complex business contracts
has guided PAREXEL's global expansions, new business
acquisitions/mergers and several successful public offerings. Previous
industry experience includes several management positions at ENSECO,
Shering-Plough, Inc., in Switzerland, 3M AG in Switzerland and a Harvard
University appointment. Mr. Vson Rickenbach has co-authored several
articles on product registration. In 1990 and 1992, he was a Finalist in
the Ernst & Young, Inc. Magazine, Merrill Lynch New England Entrepreneur
of the Year award. Mr. Von Rickenbachs's professional memberships
include the Drug Information Association (DIA), the Regulatory Affairs
Society (RAPS) and the Society for Clinical Trials. Mr. Von Rickenbach
received his BA at Lucerne College of Industrial Economics and
Administration in his native Switzerland, and he holds an MBA from
